A hedge can change which pole you need.

If landscaping forces you farther from the wall, you’re using more of the pole’s length to cover the distance in front of you.

That’s why choosing a water-fed pole starts with the job layout. Here are five checks to help you buy the reach you’ll actually use.

1. Start with where your feet will be.

Look at the window height and the ground below it. A porch, flower bed or other obstruction can put your working position farther from the wall than a straight-on view suggests.

As a pole tilts farther from upright, less of its length contributes to vertical height. Your height and hand position also affect reach. That’s why the same pole can reach differently for two operators or at two different properties.

Compare sizes from the position you can actually work in. “Two stories” is a useful starting description, but window height and access tell you much more.

2. Let your regular route narrow the choice.

Start with the properties you clean most often. Then consider the taller jobs you expect to take on.

Here are some starting points:

Pole Work to consider it for
UP CORE Residential work, including second-story windows where the layout allows.
UP30 Mixed residential routes with many two- and three-story properties.
UP40 Higher homes and commercial glass requiring more reach.
UP50 Taller commercial work where the additional length has a clear purpose.

These are starting points, not guaranteed working heights. Check the actual windows, access and product specifications for your jobs.

3. Compare how the pole handles when extended.

Getting the brush to the glass is only the beginning. You still need to move it across the window, keep control of the brush and rinse thoroughly. Construction matters once the sections are extended.

UP CORE combines carbon fiber and fiberglass. It’s our hybrid option for cleaners weighing everyday performance against the cost of moving into carbon-fiber upper sections.

The Rhodi UP range uses carbon-fiber upper sections with a reinforced fiberglass base. When comparing options, look at stiffness and weight alongside length. A pole that suits your regular working height and feels manageable through repeated brush movements is a more useful purchase than one chosen on maximum extension alone.

4. Consider storage and portability.

The pole has to fit into your working day before it ever reaches an upstairs window. Check its collapsed length against the space in your vehicle. All the Rhodi UP configurations line has been fitted inside a sedan to confirm portability.

Also look at the clamp design. UP CORE and Rhodi UP use an anti-spin clamp system, with levers for adjusting the sections. Those are parts you’ll handle as you move between different window heights.

For a route with changing access and working heights, setup and adjustment are part of the buying decision. Compare the collapsed dimensions, weight and section layout of the actual size you’re considering.

5. Know what comes with the pole.

The right length still needs the right equipment around it. Before comparing prices, check whether you’re looking at the pole on its own or a kit with the brush and hose.

  • Pole Only: the selected Rhodi pole and Euro thread pole tip attachment. A sensible option if you already have compatible accessories.
  • Essentials Kit: adds a water-fed brush, 100 feet of WFP hose, angle adapter and hose valve connector.

You’ll still need a suitable pure-water supply for pure-water window cleaning. The pole carries the brush and water to the glass; it doesn’t filter tap water. If this is your first setup, include that supply in your plan before deciding which package covers what you need.

Choose for the windows on your route.

A useful shortlist starts with your regular window heights, the space you have to stand and the extra reach you expect to use. From there, compare construction, handling and what comes in the package.
