Pole Materials Explained

Both options are built for the field. Here's how they differ.

Hybrid Carbon Fiber + Fiberglass

Tough. Predictable. Affordable.

The most affordable option in the Rhodi lineup. Hybrid construction blends carbon fiber for weight reduction with fiberglass for impact resistance. The result is a pole with controlled flex that feels predictable all day. Slightly heavier than pure carbon fiber, but more durable against the knocks of daily field use. A reliable workhorse for residential window cleaners.

Carbon Fiber + Reinforced Fiberglass Base

Lighter. Stiffer. More control at height.

Primarily carbon fiber construction with a reinforced fiberglass base section. Carbon fiber is stiffer for the same weight, giving better control and less flex when working at height. The fiberglass base adds durability at the section most likely to take impact, and provides electrical insulation. Best for daily residential and mid-reach commercial work up to 40ft.

Frequently Asked Questions

What length pole do I need?

For 1–2 story residential work, the UP CORE at 20ft or the UP 20 handles it easily. For 2–3 story residential and small commercial, the UP 30 at 30ft is the sweet spot. For mid-rise commercial up to 4 stories, the UP 40 at 39ft gives you the reach. These are actual measured working lengths, not inflated reach numbers.

Carbon fiber vs fiberglass: what's the difference?

The UP CORE uses a hybrid mix of carbon fiber and fiberglass. It's tougher, more affordable, and has a controlled flex that feels predictable all day. The Rhodi UP is primarily carbon fiber with a reinforced fiberglass base. It's lighter (4.40 lbs at 30ft vs 3.00 lbs at 20ft for the CORE), stiffer, and better for reaching higher with less fatigue. The fiberglass base on the UP also adds durability at the section most likely to take impact, and provides electrical insulation.

Do I need an RO/DI system to use a water fed pole?

Yes. Tap water won't work for water fed cleaning. Without purification, the minerals in tap water leave spots and streaks when the water dries, defeating the purpose of the pole. You need water at 0 TDS (total dissolved solids) for spot-free results. A Rhodi RO/DI system paired with any of our poles is the complete professional setup.

What brush should I use?

Both Essentials Kits come with a 10" nylon brush, which handles glass well for most jobs. Nylon agitates dirt without scratching and works great on standard residential and commercial glass. For frames, sills, or delicate surfaces, consider a boar's hair or hybrid brush, available in our Accessories collection.

Can I use a Rhodi pole with my existing RO/DI system?

Yes. Rhodi poles use standard euro thread fittings, which are compatible with virtually all water fed setups on the market. If your system uses a standard hose and quick-connect fitting, you can connect directly. If you're unsure about compatibility, contact us and we'll confirm before you order.

What's included with the pole?

Pole only: the pole plus a euro thread pole tip, everything you need to connect to your existing water fed setup. Essentials Kit: the pole plus a 10" nylon water fed brush, 100ft of WFP hose, angle adapter, euro thread pole tip, and hose valve connector. Everything you need to connect and start cleaning from day one.

How do I maintain my water fed pole?

Rinse sections with fresh water after use, especially if you've been working near salt air or hard water areas. Store the pole collapsed and out of direct sun when not in use. Check the clamp levers and bolts periodically and tighten if needed. The anti-spin clamp design and protective end caps help reduce wear, but inspect them regularly. Catching a worn clamp early prevents damage to the sections. With basic care, a Rhodi pole holds up to years of daily professional use.
